Introducing a New Age of Brand Transparency

We’re pleased to announce a pioneering partnership to introduce a new age of brand transparency in the apparel and footwear industry.
EVRYTHNG has partnered with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), the apparel, footwear and home textile industry’s foremost alliance for sustainable production, and Avery Dennison RBIS, a global leader in apparel labeling, branding and packaging solutions, to enable suppliers, manufacturer and retail brands and consumers to engage directly with sustainability information by interacting with digital identities on physical products.
A New Standard for Sustainability
Today’s consumers are demanding transparency from apparel and footwear brands. Before making purchase decisions, these conscious consumers want to know how a product was made and what kind of impact it has on the environment and on society. It has therefore now become critical for brands to be incredibly open about their sustainability practices.
As a way to empower this transparency, the SAC has established the Higg Index, a standardized measurement method that lets brands, retailers and manufacturers understand their environmental, social and labor impact and identify areas of improvement. The Higg Index provides a simple set of tools for sharing data, identifying opportunities to cut waste and cost, driving improvement through industry benchmarks and sparking innovation.
In our collaboration with Avery Dennison RBIS and SAC, we’ve launched a smart products pilot program that leverages both the Higg Index and Avery Dennison’s sustainable labels to take transparency one step further, setting a new standard for sustainability and visibility in the value chain with on-product digital identities. Through this pilot program, participating brands will be able to explore how unique digital identities and smart labels on products can easily and directly communicate information about their Higg Index performance to their customers and other stakeholders.
Revolutionizing the Sustainability Value Chain
Thanks to global packaging partnerships, including our partnership with Avery Dennison RBIS in the apparel and footwear industry, EVRYTHNG is enabling billions of products per year to be digitized right at the point of manufacture. These #BornDigital™ products are equipped with software identities in the cloud that capture and share data—such as the raw materials found in a garment or the factory in which it was made—throughout the product lifecycle. This means that applications powered by the EVRYTHNG Smart Products Platform can deliver critical sustainability information to anyone who interacts directly with a product.
A consumer wanting to buy a t-shirt from a responsible clothing brand can simply scan a digital trigger on the label to see the environmental and social footprint of that garment. Later, when it comes time to discard the t-shirt, the consumer can scan the tag once again to find out how to properly recycle it, while the recycling facility can use the digital identity to more efficiently glean fabric and dye information to inform the sorting process.
This initiative is a key piece of the full product lifecycle capabilities EVRYTHNG provides brands. In addition to sustainability data and applications, our clients leverage supply chain and consumer digital solutions as part of our end-to-end product lifecycle management.
