Leaders in NFC to demonstrate PackageTagz technology at Pack Expo 2013 in Las Vegas
19 September 2013 – Sarasota, Florida.
iZipline LLC and EVRYTHNG – two leaders in consumer product applications for Near Field Communication (NFC) – announced their affiliation to advance technologies for intelligent product packaging. The duo will demonstrate PackageTagz, iZipline’s patent-pending NFC application for pouch-packaging powered by EVRYTHNG’s software Engine, at Pack Expo 2013 in Las Vegas, Sept. 23-25.
“Through our affiliation with EVRYTHNG, iZipline will accelerate the end-to-end capabilities of our PackageTagz technology to revolutionize the way manufacturers and consumers interact with products in the new ‘Internet of everything’,” said Michelle Moulin, managing partner of iZipline, a technology company innovating NFC for global brands.
PackageTagz is a patent-pending technology for applying NFC to a pouch and other packaging for consumer products. PackageTagz provides instant engagement between brands and the consumer’s mobile device for product recall, track and trace, brand protection, mobile marketing, and related analytics.
“We’re excited to be partnering with iZipline to demonstrate how EVRYTHNG’s software for connecting physical products to the Web can be used,” said Niall Murphy, founder and CEO of EVRYTHNG, the Web of Things software company that makes products smart by connecting them to the Web. “This partnership will provide highly relevant software services to manufacturers to make products digitally active and smart for the consumer.”
PackageTagz applies NFC as the package is produced. The NFC tag is coded and tethered to iZipline’s software platform to deliver data and content when the package is tapped by a consumer’s mobile device. This interaction between the tag and a consumer’s device is tracked to produce valuable analytics for the brand manager, manufacturer or regulatory agency.
iZipline’s platform – powered by EVRYTHNG’s software that provides unique, interactive identities for products on the Web – lets brand managers instantly deliver relevant and timely product content to consumers via their NFC-enabled mobile device at the point of sale or use. Content may include promotional and instructional product videos, redeemable coupons, product safety alerts, product authentication, track and trace, and product recall information.
Unlike QR codes, which require an application for communication to occur, NFC is native for most mobile devices, including phones and tablets. By applying NFC during the packaging process, or even to the products themselves, brand managers gain instant engagement with consumers’ mobile devices at point of purchase or during use.
“Imagine being able to place your mobile phone or tablet near a medication and instantly become alerted if the product has been recalled,” Moulin said. “The platform that supports PackageTagz gives brand managers incredible flexibility in changing their message, which can be video, audio, image or text. This platform also provides robust analytics that allow brands to monitor results and modify outreach programs to achieve greater return on investment.”
