EVRYTHNG and Wiliot Partner to Power Dynamic Consumer Product Experiences
NEW YORK, January 13, 2020 – EVRYTHNG, the IoT Product Cloud and Wiliot, the disruptive battery-free Bluetooth tag provider, today announced a partnership that makes it easier for consumer brands across markets including, apparel, sporting goods, well-being, and home and garden equipment, to deliver dynamic customer experiences and gather rich product data across the full product lifecycle.
“Product digitization is creating huge value for brands with the end-to-end trackability of every item and the creation of an owned channel for direct to consumer relationships. We’re combining Wiliot’s low cost, secure and intelligent Bluetooth tags on products to generate rich sensory data with EVRYTHNG Active Digital Identities™ in the cloud. This unlocks real-time product data intelligence, so brands can now create even more powerful, dynamic experiences for their customers through their products,” said Niall Murphy, CEO and Co-Founder of EVRYTHNG. “This is an important inflection point in the industry and charts the way for a world where brands can use their product items as powerful data generating assets — in the supply chain, at point of sale, and in the post-purchase consumer relationship to deliver personalized services. Brands across consumer markets are innovating their business models through digitization.”
“Wiliot and EVRYTHNG share a vision to create a connection between brands and consumers via digitized products,” said Tal Tamir, Wiliot CEO and Co-founder. “Wiliot’s technology recycles the radio waves around us to power sticker-size sensors that allow consumers to interact with products. As a result, products can now share when they are picked up, their temperature, or when they need to be replenished. Battery-free tags are low-cost and have unlimited power and lifespan so can be embedded inside of products that were previously unconnected to the Internet of Things.”
Charting a Path of Innovation
To bring the massive impact of product digitization to the forefront, EVRYTHNG co-chaired the GS1 standards development process that yielded GS1 Digital Link and is now the first platform to allow consumer product brands to digitize products at scale. GS1 Digital Link upgrades the ubiquitous barcode used by two million manufacturers on more than 4-trillion product items per annum, so that every product item can now be smartphone-interactive, transact with point-of-sale systems and connect to the web — all with one code on the product.
“By combining our Product Cloud with innovations like Wiliot’s technology and new standards like GS1 Digital Link, we make product digitization accessible to brands across industries and around the globe,” continued Murphy. “Consumers want to purchase brands with purpose — who demonstrate transparency, sustainability, and ethical values. Digitized products allow brands and consumers to align on these values.”
For example, Mowi — the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon — partnered with EVRYTHNG to create the first end-to-end food traceability platform to deliver full visibility into provenance of salmon bought and consumed by customers worldwide. The industry’s first mass-scale application of the new GS1 Digital Link standard, consumers around the world can point their phones at a packet of salmon, authenticating the item and accessing information about the provenance of that specific portion of fish, including where it came from and how it was farmed. The ability to collect and share real-time data throughout the lifecycle of the product provides huge value to both brands and consumers.
PUMA is another brand on the cutting edge, leading the way in retail innovation with dynamic, digital in-store consumer experiences. By digitizing every product in PUMA’s NYC flagship store, the brand is enriching the direct-to-consumer relationship and delighting its customers. At the same time, PUMA now has a scalable platform to gather real-time data intelligence to inform business strategies.
And most recently, global apparel leader Ralph Lauren partnered with EVRYTHNG to connect its full product portfolio to the web — assigning each product item a unique Active Digital Identity™ in the EVRYTHNG Product Cloud to generate real-time data intelligence throughout each item’s journey from factory to the end-customer to recycling/reuse.
