The Economist’s 2nd Annual Conference Explores The Age of the Entrepreneurial CMO
NEW YORK, NY; March 2nd, 2015 – Economist Events will hold The Big Rethink US conference on March 5th, 2015 at 10am ET on the Park at Time Warner Center in New York City. The event will explore the rise of the “entrepreneurial CMO”- a new generation of marketing executives that see trends emerging from around the corner and leverages them to engage customers in powerful ways. Andy Hobsbawm, a founder and the chief marketing officer at EVRYTHNG, the IoT cloud platform that makes consumer products smart, will explain how there’s an essential missing layer in the modern marketing technology stack for CMOs. This key ingredient is cloud software that allows marketers to operate physical products on the Web as real-time digital assets, delivering personalized, interactive services to consumers via smartphones, and tracking products through the supply chain as they move from factory floor to high street to living room.
“We are moving into the Third Age of Marketing, powered by Internet of Things connectivity and real-time data which lets brands manage their products as interactive media and operate them as dynamic, digital information services,” says Andy Hobsbawm. “This represents a third shift from the age of Brand Voice, to later Consumer Voice, and now Product Voice – where the product itself plays an active, functional part in how it is made, sold and used.”
The second annual US event, co-chaired by The Economist’s Media director, Alexandra Suich, and US technology correspondent, Martin Giles, will gather editors from The Economist and industry leaders from areas such as retail, manufacturing, technology, financial services and beyond to hear front-line stories, ideas and tactics from the world’s leading entrepreneurial CMOs.
The full-day conference will examine how chief marketing officers who behave like fast-moving entrepreneurs — combining scientific precision with artistic passion, marshaling financial and technological resources from diverse places, leading global teams and exploiting new technologies to drive growth — will win in 2015.
“In today’s marketing environment, CMOs must exhibit the key traits of an entrepreneur,” said Suich. “Those who are able to act like they work at a nimble start-up will succeed and ultimately change the future of marketing.”
